Scrum is the most popular Agile framework in the world. While Agile is the broad philosophy, Scrum provides the specific "rules of the game"—a lightweight structure of Roles, Events, and Artifacts designed to help teams solve complex problems and deliver value in short cycles.
The term "Scrum" comes from rugby, where a team works together as a single unit to move a ball down the field.

Scrum patterns are proven, context-specific solutions to recurring problems encountered when implementing the Scrum framework, acting as building blocks that form pattern languages for improving team, product, and organizational agility, rather than rigid rules, offering guidance on roles, events, and workflows based on collective experience.
They describe a problem, the forces at play, and the solution, helping teams adapt and solve issues like workflow bottlenecks or adoption challenges.
Liberating Structures are simple, practical methods or "microstructures" that change how people interact in groups, replacing controlling approaches to foster engagement, creativity, and innovation by including everyone in shaping shared futures.
They are easy to learn and use, designed to distribute control, build trust, and unlock collective intelligence in meetings and collaborations of any size, using principles from complexity science.
Zombie Scrum describes teams that mechanically follow Scrum rituals (meetings, roles) but have lost the core purpose, leading to no real customer value, no working product, and no continuous improvement, essentially becoming an empty, lifeless process despite appearing "Scrum-like".
Symptoms include a lack of clear goals, poor stakeholder engagement, mechanical meetings, no demonstrable increments, and a general lack of ownership or desire to change, making the team a "cog in the wheel".
